RELATING TO MARANA REGIONAL AIRPORT- 9 FORMALLY AND PERMANENTLY
ESTABLISHING THE TOWN OF MARANA MEMORIAL AT THE MARANA REGIONAL
AIRPORT FOR THE 19 MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS KILLED
IN THE APRIL 8, 2000 MV-22 OSPREY CRASH
WHEREAS 19 Members of the United States Marine Corps were killed in the April 8,
2000 MV-22 Ospre crash at the Marana Northwest Re Airport, now called the Marana
Re Airport, in Marana, Arizona and
WHEREAS the Town of Marana hosted a memorial service for the 19 Marines and their
families on October 6, 2000 at Marana Re Airport and
WHEREAS the Town of Marana has over the y ears developed a memorial site near the
entrance to the Marana Re Airport in honor of the 19 Marines killed in the April 8, 2000
MV-22 Ospre crash and
WHEREAS the Ma and Council of the Town of Marana find that this resolution
formall and permanentl establishin the memorial to honor the 19 Marines killed in the April
8 2000 MV-22 Ospre crash is in the best interests of the Town of Marana and its citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF MARANA, that the Town of Marana Memorial is hereb formall and permanentl
established at the Marana Re Airport for the 19 Members of the United States Marine
Corps killed in the April 8, 2000 MV-22 Ospre crash.
IT IS FtJRT11ER RESOLVED that the Town Mana and staff are hereb directed and
authorized to maintain, improve, and call the public's attention to the memorial at the Marana
Re Airport to honor the 19 Marines killed in the April 8, 2000 MV-22 Ospre crash,
subject to the Town's bud as adopted annuall and amended from time to time.
