MEETING
INFORMATION
TOWN
OF
MARANA
DATE: May 19, 1998
AGENDA ITEM:
TO:
Mayor and Town Council
FROM:
Sandra L. Groseclose, Town Clerk
SUBJECT:
Resolution No. 98-43: Call of Special Election - Designating the Election Date and Purpose
of the Election and Designating the Deadline for Voter Registration
DISCUSSION:
As Council may recall, two annexations were referred by referenda:
Ordinance No. 97.24 - Tangerine Road/Thornydale Road Annexation
Ordinance No. 97.25 - Countryside Vista 5 & 6 Annexation
These referred annexations must go before the voters at the next General Election, or the Mayor
and Council may call a Special Election on any consolidated election date.
Staff recommends that the above referendum, along with the question “Direct Election of the
Mayor” come before the voters on September 8, 1998, which is Pima County’s Primary
Election.
The last day to register for the Special Election is August 10, 1998, and voters must be residents
of the Town of Marana for 29 days prior to election.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of Resolution No. 98-43.
SUGGESTED MOTION:
I move that Council approve Resolution No. 98-43, Call of Special Election on September 8,
1998.
