TOPICMarana Citizens’ Forum engagement in the Make Marana 2040 General Plan Exercise
Process Opportunities
Process Opportunities•New process format brought people back to the Forum•Gave us the chance to work with a 3rdparty consultant •New process brought new Delegates to the Forum•These contributions to the General Plan will help shape Marana for future planning and generations to come•This topic forced many of us to look beyond our own biases and perspectives
Process Opportunities (cont.)•Worked in individual groups, as well as a cooperative•Realized that, after both working together and apart, consensuswas always achieved•Despite the process being changed, consensus was still the most important thing to achieve
Process Challenges
Process Challenges•Education on the General Plan, as well as familiarization with the process of the General Plan•Departure from the normal Citizens’ Forum process•Started with a limited amount of information compared to what our tasks were•Hard to maintain motivation during the process because of the meeting infrequency and multiple entities involved
Process Challenges (cont.)•Unclear as to the impact of our input in this process •Felt like there was less control over the process than normal •Less identity this time around with the topic
