Economic DevelopmentThe Marana Film Office was launched in 2017 to assist producers with:•Permit process •Locations scouting assistance•Accommodations assistance•Hiring of crew and support servicesAnd:•To market Marana as a film location•To encourage and assist with business relocation, expansion, and build-to-suit
Economic DevelopmentThe Arizona Film and Digital Media Program was relaunched in 2017 to market Arizona to outside producers.Matthew Earl Jones, State’s Film Program Director, is helping to build the State’s film and digital media industry hub around Marana and Southern Arizona.

Present FilmingMarana Film Office assisted with seven filmed projects/four future projects in the past year:•Natural History Network/Silverback Productions UK – nature documentary (filmed in Marana)•Investigation Discovery – crime scene TV documentary (filmed in Marana)•Jeep media event – unveiling new 2018 model for world’s automobile media (filmed in Marana)•Discover Science Channel What on Earth – nature documentary (filmed in Pinal County)•BBC/Seven Worlds – nature documentary (possible future project in Marana)•Seelie Productions and ArcLight Pictures – general locations tour (future projects)•Marana Film Office – promo video (filmed entirely in Marana with case and crew of 60)•The Tiny House Movie – local independent feature film (filmed in Marana Council Chambers)•Locations tour for Desert Owl Productions sequel to Revenge of Zoe (future project)•FLIR (industrial film), selected a location in Marana•Provided a locations tour for local locations scouts on Friday, January 4 (for general awareness)Other projects filmed in Marana in the past 12 months:TLC’s Four Weddings, Season 10 Episode 3, filmed at Stardance Events Center (aired July 29, 2018)Revenge of Zoe, independent feature film (Tucson), the first feature film to credit Marana as a location!Cactus Boy, independent feature film (UK), filmed at White Stallion Ranch & Bach’s Greenhouse
Present FilmingEconomic Impact In 2017-2018 Tucson Film Office measured:•$9.4 million in direct spending•3,653 hotel room nights•6,000 job days (locals hired)
News•Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) has accepted the Town of Marana as a member. We have joined 360 film office members worldwide. •A local talent agency is looking for office space in Marana so that it can become SAG-AFTRA certified.•Marana Chamber of Commerce has created a Film Committee to support and collaborate with the Marana Film Office. •Marana Film Office website is being updated to host a comprehensive public-facing crew list.
NewsModern Studios, a full service production facility, will open in Marana January 16, 2019• 12,000 sq. ft: production studios (7,000 sq. ft.), audio design room, whisper room, post-production, offices, conference rooms, dressing rooms• Markets: regional, national and international TV commercial, digital media, and music video producers•Largest production studio in Arizona•Has the only Bolt highspeed cinebot camera in Arizona
