HomeMy WebLinkAboutCoucil Packet Supplement 9-24-2019 - Public Comment Jim TrippThank you council members, and thank you Cindy Ross for encouraging me to speak
tonight on the phrase "continued, unhindered, growth."
I am not for "hindering" or stopping growth. I support growth and I want growth.
But I do not want more taxes if the goal of growing is simply to maintain #1 status
among Arizona's growing Towns. I think we should consider allowing existing tax
revenue growth to regulate population growth. I think other citizens should express their
opinion on this, as I am doing now.
Another place I would like to give input on growth expectations is in the General Plan.
Currently, the population growth trend is considered an "existing condition" that is an
undebatable fact, rather than a controllable option that deserves citizen input. "Existing
conditions" are described in the Make Marana 2040 General Plan Map Atlas, a
document not even referenced on the Make Marana 2040 website, where comments
are solicited only for the Draft, which does not include the Atlas. I would like the website
to at least link to the Make Marana 2040 Map Atlas, so that people know this
"companion document" exists. Hopefully you will also allow comments, even though the
deadline is only three days away.
