HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil Presentation 03/04/2021- Welcome and Recap PresentationCouncil Retreat Day 1 –Welcome & Leadership Retreat Recap Terry Rozema –Town Manager 3/8/2021 Welcome, Council! 2 Leadership Retreat Recap •In November 2020, the Manager’s Office held a day-away Leadership Retreat, to identify topics of importance and priority. •Staff was encouraged to speak freely, in an attempt to solicit the most honest and best feedback. •The overall goal was to identify potential opportunities, weaknesses, barriers, and priorities to help propel the Town’s service delivery forward 3 Leadership Retreat Recap (cont.) •The Agenda was multifaceted, including items such as: 4 •Council Engagement •Identifying and Exploring Excellence •Measuring what matters •Town-wide hot topics •An icebreaker exercise •Direct discussion of the current Vision and Mission of the Town, as well as potential future Vision and Mission •Expectations from the Manager’s Office, as well as organizational culture Leadership Retreat Accomplishments •Through robust discussion across the aforementioned topics, many items came to light. 5 •Council Retreat Engagement: 20+ items identified •What Is Excellence?: 15+ items identified •How to Achieve Excellence: 15+ items identified •Measuring What Matters: 15+ items identified •Town-wide Hot Topics: 10+ items identified Why Did We Do This? •So, what’s the point of it all? 6 •Unify Executive Level Staff •Identify Opportunities •Identify Issues •Brainstorm How to Address Issues •Foster Cooperation and Cross- Compatibility •BRING COUNCIL INTO THE DISCUSSION Where do we go from here? 7 •Council Retreat and Leadership Retreat tie-in to one another •Next Session: work to review, discuss, and prioritize top items of importance or Council as identified by Staff •Receive direction on which ones to work on in the near, mid, and long terms •Establish a baseline for reporting progress •Tie in feedback to future Strategic Planning Process Break 2:30pm –2:45pm 8 9 10 11
