HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2007-052 bids for the purchase and removal of modular buildings previously used by the marana police department MARANA RESOLUTION NO. 2007-52 RELATING TO TOWN FACILITIES; REQUESTING BIDS FROM THE PUBLIC FOR THE PURCHASE AND REMOVAL OF MODULAR BUILDINGS PREVIOUSLY USED BY THE MARANA POLICE DEPARTMENT, PRESENTLY NOT IN USE, AND BEING STORED AT A CONTINUING COST TO THE TOWN. WHEREAS the Town of Marana currently owns a modular building that was previously used to house the Marana Police Department; and WHEREAS the Town has not used the modular building since the completion of the Marana Municipal Complex in 2005, and is presently storing it on a lot located at the intersection of Marana Road and Sanders Road in the Town of Marana; and WHEREAS the Marana Health Center has informed the Town that it no longer intends to use the modular building as had been previously indicated; and WHEREAS the Town wishes to avoid any additional costs for storage and maintenance of the modular building; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, that the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to invite bids from the general public for the purchase and removal of the modular building presently being stored at the intersection of Marana Road and Sanders Road in the Town of Marana. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town's Manager and staff are hereby directed and authorized to publish a notice communicating this information to the general public. CIVIC CENTER DR. MARANA, ARIZONA 85653 PUBLIC NOTICE FOR BIDS Pursuant to Town of Marana Resolution 2007-52, notice is hereby given that the Town of Marana, is accepting bids for certain modular buildings presently located at the southwest comer of Marana Road and Sanders Road., Marana, Arizona. The structures were originally purchased for use by the Marana Police Department and have been stored, in their present location since 2005.For a complete description of the structures, prospective bidders are advised to contact Dennis Dolan, Community Response Manager for the Town of Marana. It should be noted that the Town of Marana acknowledges that an acceptable bid may consist of nothing more than provisions for the removal and or disposal of the structures and shall also include provisions for cleanup of any remaining debris at their current location. Removal of the structures shall be completed no later than 30 days after acceptance of the highest bid. The structures are sold "as is" with no warranties or representations, expressed or implied as to their value or structural integrity. The Town of Marana reserves the right to determine whether or not a bid meets certain threshold requirements. BIDDING INFORMATION: (A) Bids will be accepted at any time after the publication of this notice and must be submitted, in writing to Town of Marana, 115 5 5 W. Civic Center Dr., Marana, AZ 85653, Attention Dennis Dolan. (B) In the event of duplicate bids, the bid which was first received shall have preference. (C) Bids must include, in addition to any compensation offered to the Town, an express intent to remove the structures from their present location which shall be completed not later than 30 days after notification by the Town. (D) If the successful bidder fails to complete the payment and or removal as stated in their bid, all amounts paid by the successful bidder will be forfeited. (E) In the event of forfeiture, the Town of Marana may declare that the next highest bid that was submitted is the highest bid, and that the bidder has five days after notification by the Town of Marana to pay by cashier's check all amounts due and take possession of the structures as per their offer. (F) The deadline for submissions shall be 5:00 pm, 30 days after initial publication of this notice and no additional bids shall be accepted after that time. In the event that no bids have been submitted by that time the Town of Marana reserves the right to extend the bidding process until an acceptable bid has been received. {00004503.DOC /) April 13,2007 ClH
