TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL FROM: Jocelyn C. Bronson, Town Clerk AGENDA TITLE: Resolution No. 2007-45: Relating to Elections; adopting the results of the primary election held on March 13, 2007. DISCUSSION Pursuant to A.R.S. Section 16-646, the governing body of a city or town must meet to canvass the votes after a primary and/or general election. This must be done not less than six days nor more than 20 days after an election. The official canvass is attached. There is a reporting error in the SOVC reports. The report generator adds the 'vote for' column causing a multiple of 3. A 'vote for l' will appear as a 'vote for 3' and a 'vote for 2' will appear as a 'vote for 6'. This problem has been addressed to Diebold. RECOMMENDATION Staff requests Council approval of the official canvass of the vote for the primary election held on March 13,2007. SUGGESTED MOTION I move to approve Resolution No. 2007-45. Election Canvass RESOLUTION NO. 2007-45 RELATING TO ELECTIONS: DECLARING AND ADOPTING THE RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 13,2007. WHEREAS, the Town of Marana, Pima County, Arizona, did hold a primary election on the 13th day of March, 2007, for the election ofthe Mayor and two Council Members; and WHEREAS, the election returns have been presented to and have been canvassed by the Town Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council ofthe Town of Marana, Pima County, Arizona, as follows: SECTION 1: That the total number of ballots cast at said primary election, as confirmed by Pima County, was 1,871. SECTION 2: That 727 early ballots were processed and counted; 0 ballots rejected. SECTION 3: That 45 provisional ballots were received; 37 ballots verified and counted; 8 ballots unverified and uncounted. SECTION 8: This resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption.
