MEETING
INFORMATION
TOWN OF MARANA
MEETING DATE: April 3, 2007
AGENDA ITEM:
1.6
TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL
FROM: Cedric Hay, Senior Assistant Town Attorney
SUBJECT: Resolution No. 2007-52: Relating to Town Facilities; requesting
bids from the public for the purchase and removal of modular
buildings previously used by the Marana Police Department, pres-
ently not in use, and being stored at a continuing cost to the Town.
DISCUSSION
The Town of Marana currently owns a modular building that was used to house the Marana Po-
lice Department prior to the completion of the Marana Municipal Complex. Upon completion of
the Marana Municipal Complex the building was relocated with the understanding that it would
be used by the Marana Health Center pursuant to an agreement which was approved via Resolu-
tion No. 2005-30. The Marana Health Center chose to make alternate arrangements once they
obtained a better understanding of the costs associated with site preparation, infrastructure, and
relocation of the building.
The building has been stored in a lot located at the intersection of Marana Road and Sanders
Road, in the Town of Marana since 2005, when it was moved from the Marana Municipal Com-
plex area. Because of the costs associated with moving the building and the fact that it has re-
mained unused for almost two years, Town staff believes that it would be in the best interests of
the Town to make the building available to the public via an open bidding process. Staff will
publish a notice requesting bids which acknowledges that an appropriate bid might simply in-
clude the costs of removal.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends authorizing the Mayor to request bids from the general public for the acquisi-
tion of the modular building presently located at the intersection of Maran a Road and Sanders
Road in the Town of Marana.
SUGGESTED MOTION
I move to adopt Resolution No. 2007-52.
