Recap and Reporting
•Strategic Plan Five was approved in September 2022 for
FY 2023 –FY 2025.
•A total of 91 action items were identified and serve as
the action plan for the goals and strategies.
•Updates will be presented to Council on a quarterly
basis.
•This plan is a way to make sure Council’s priorities are in
the forefront of our work plan.

Cherished Heritage
Leverage the region’s historic and cultural legacy to strengthen community character, increase community pride, and build heritage-driven tourism.
Highlighted Accomplishments:
•To increase awareness of the Town’s rich heritage,Staff created the URLwww.maranaAZ.gov/heritage,which is now live and accessible.
•Town Council approved Resolution No.2022-129 to rescind the Marana
Public Art Policy.Staff is working on drafting a new art policy that expandsintopublicandprivatedevelopmentandcapturesMarana’s heritage.
•The Town identified the new Marana Community Center and AquaticFacilityasalocationforpublicartthathighlightsMarana’s heritage.The
Request for Proposal for public artwork was advertised on December 22,2022.
Looking Forward:
•Staff will present the new Public Art Policy draft to Council before end of
FY 2023.
•Artist for the Marana Community Center and Aquatic Facility will be
selected by April 2023.
Vibrant Community
Strengthen the sense of place and create opportunities for community connections.
Highlighted Accomplishments:
•Communications Staff launched the first phase of the Marana LifestyleBrandprogram.The first phase included items such as stickers,
keychains,and coasters.
•Marana Police hosted the fall 2022 Citizens Police Academy and had atotalof11graduates.Marana PD also raised $14,599 for the Pride 4 the
Patch Golf Tournament held in December 2022.
•The Transportation Master Plan kicked off.The purpose of the plan is to
identify and help address future traffic needs.
•Community and Neighborhood Services is working on developing aConsolidatedActionPlanfortheCommunityBlockGrantProgram.
Looking Forward:
•Next Citizens Police Academy will begin in early February 2023.ThePoliceExplorerProgramwillalsolaunchinthespringwithrecruitmentto
begin in March 2023.
Thriving Commerce
Recruit and maintain a diverse commercial sector that is supported by local workforce training and funding opportunities.
Highlighted Accomplishments:
•Economic Development Staff met with the main developer in theDowntownMaranaareaandthedeveloperiscurrentlyinterviewing
master planners to develop the first conceptual master plan for the area.
•Economic Development Staff are currently undergoing the initial phasestoupdatetheDiscoverMaranawebsite.Updated website is on track to
be completed by end of FY 2023.
•Airport Staff has been working with Communications Division on new
branding including:noise abatement brochures,airport stickers,letterhead,and future airport signage.
Looking Forward:
•Staff has been working with the Marana Chamber to reinstate the
Business Walks program.
•Upcoming Airport projects include updating the Marana Airport website.
Healthy Lifestyles
Provide a variety of recreational, artistic, and cultural opportunities along with a flourishing natural environment to support healthy and active lifestyles.
Highlighted Accomplishments:
•The Marana Community Center and Aquatic Facility is nearing the endofthedesignphase.
•Progress continues on the Saguaro Bloom Community Park.The
developer-funded project is being prepared to go out to bid soon.
•Staff has been working with CalPortland to finalize the land acquisition
to complete the CalPortland portion of the Santa Cruz River Shared UsePaththatwillconnectNorthMaranatotheentireSharedUsePath.
Looking Forward:
•Continue planning meetings with the Community Center and Aquatic
Facility design team to ensure project continues on schedule.
•Design of the Tangerine Sky Park enhancements is currently in process.
Proactive Public Services
Foster an open atmosphere that embraces change, creativity, innovation and calculated risk, and maintains the Town’s high quality customer service.
Highlighted Accomplishments:
•Annexation Policy was unanimously approved and adopted in January
2023.✔COMPLETED
•Water Staff conducted Council presentations on the draft of theDroughtPreparednessPlanandrecommendedupdatestotheWater
Conservation Program.
•Town implemented recommendations from the Classification and
Compensation Study in early FY 2023.
•Staff provided an Annual Supervisor Training and implemented the PilotProgramforAlternativeWorkScheduleandTeleworktoboostemployee
morale and retention.

Looking Forward:
•Several projects are currently underway that encourage energyconservation:MMC LED Lighting Update Project,MMC Fleet Facility Roof
Repair and HVAC Upgrade,and the MOC Solar Project.
•Water Acquisition Task Force will provide recommendations on potentialwaterresourcesopportunitiesinspring-summer 2023.
•Facilities Master Plan Request for Proposal was released in late January2023.Anticipated date of plan completion is December 2023.
Next Steps
•Staff will continue working on the goals and actions
associated with all five focus areas.
•The next update is planned for April /May 2023.
