What is your vision for the
Town?
To continue the path set by the Mayor, Town Manager and Council for
sustainable, smart growth. It is not by accident that Marana is the
fastest growing area in Arizona. We have great leadership and
people who are "forward thinking" in their planning.
What are some of the most
important concerns or issues
that you think the Town will
have to face in the next 5 - 10
years?
With the wave of growth that we are seeing, I believe water will
always be on the forefront of everyone's minds. I believe we need to
be forward thinking in our development of infrastructure to keep
pace with our growth.
What do you see as the Town's
best asset to bring visitors and
new residents to the Town?
I believe the Town of Marana is ideally situated for all forms of
recreation with great parks, mountain hiking and of course bicycling.
Our neighborhoods have local parks and trails for families to use
and enjoy.
Please explain your
professional background
I have served in elected public office as a City Council member and
was also a member of the Planning Commission of Huntsville, AL
before moving to Marana in 2014. Also, served on numerous non
profit boards and enjoyed raising funds for those area I was
passionate about.
Describe your experience I enjoy working with people to identify and more importantly to solve

working with a Council-
appointed board or commission
issues. I strongly believe in being a "team member" and enjoy the
process of making life better for the residents of our community.
Describe a time when you had
to stand firm and make a tough
or unpopular decision
While I was on the Town of Marana Planning Commission previously,
we had a applicant who wanted to open a business in a
"neighborhood setting". I voted "no" because I strongly believed it
was not the right location for that type of business.
If appointed by the Council you
will be representing all of the
Town of Marana in your
decisions. Describe how you
will maintain your objectivity in
making decisions for locations
other than your own residence.
I have always tried to look at the issues from every angle and
perspective before I make a decision. The Town of Marana is home
and I will do my best to always be available to any resident who
wants to speak with me.

What is your vision for the
Town?
My vision for Marana is to find the right balance between growth and
maintaining the small town feeling that makes Marana a wonderful
place to live.
What are some of the most
important concerns or issues
that you think the Town will
have to face in the next 5 - 10
years?
Managing growth and influx of commercial industry in a manner that
assures that the resources are able to keep up and manage the
demands that the growth brings.
What do you see as the Town's
best asset to bring visitors and
new residents to the Town?
Accessibility and small town feel, while still having the retail and
commercial needs of the citizens, which keeps the tax revenue local.
Please explain your
professional background
I have recently retired from a 31 year career in law enforcement,
and accepted a job with Oro Valley Police as their civilian public
information officer. I hold a masters degree in Communications and
Public Relations.
Describe your experience
working with a Council-
appointed board or commission
This would be my first time serving a council appointed board.
I served as president for a large charitable foundation. I had to make

Describe a time when you had
to stand firm and make a tough
or unpopular decision
the final decision to not provide assistance to someone that was in
need because they did not meet the criteria set forth in the by laws.
Although it was difficult to deny the assistance, it was far more
important to stay within the confines of the by laws for the long term
protection of the foundation.
If appointed by the Council you
will be representing all of the
Town of Marana in your
decisions. Describe how you
will maintain your objectivity in
making decisions for locations
other than your own residence.
I truly believe that all decisions should be based on the facts known
and what is best for all that are represented. In my 31 years in aw
enforcement, I prided myself in being able to make decisions based
on the facts and not allowing emotions to cloud those decisions. I
would apply that same mentality to decisions brought before the
board, and vote based on what is best for all of Marana.
