HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2023-061 Approving and Authorizing the Acceptance of Grant Funding from Gila River Indian Community Shate-Shared Revenue Program Funds MARANA RESOLUTION NO. 2023-061 RELATING TO PARKS AND RECREATION; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDING FROM GILA RIVER INDIAN COMMUNITY STATE-SHARED REVENUE PROGRAM FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF EXERCISE EQUIPMENT TO BE USED IN THE MARANA SENIOR WELLNESS IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM; AND APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO SIGN ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO ACCEPT THE GRANT WHEREAS the Gila River Indian Community,through their State-Shared Revenue Program, provides funds to cities, towns, and counties related to government services in the areas of economic development, education, healthcare, public safety, and transportation; and WHEREAS the Town of Marana's Gila River Indian Community Grant Application (Grant Cycle 2023) dated March 29, 2023 (the "Grant Application") submitted to the Gila River State-Shared Revenue Program has been recommended for approval, and the Town of Marana is willing to accept$19,574.00 in grant funding to be paid over a period of one year for the Marana Parks & Recreation Department's Senior Wellness Improvement Program; and WHEREAS the Mayor and Council find that this resolution is in the best interests of the Town and its citizens. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: The acceptance of grant funding in the amount of $19,574.00, to be paid to the Town of Marana over a period of one year from the Gila River Indian Community State-Shared Revenue Program funds for the purposes outlined in the Town's Grant Application, is hereby authorized and approved. SECTION 2:The Town Manager is hereby authorized and directed to sign any and all documents necessary to fulfill the acceptance requirements of the Gila River Indian Community State-Shared Revenue Program, and the Town's Manager and staff are hereby authorized and directed to undertake all other and further tasks required or beneficial to carry out the terms, obligations, and objectives of the grant.
