HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2023-095 Approving the Reappointment of Civil Traffic Violation Hearing Officers for the Marana Municipal Court MARANA RESOLUTION NO. 2023-095 RELATING TO MUNICIPAL COURT; APPROVING THE REAPPOINTMENT OF KIMBERLY EPLING, RAMONA SILENCE, AND MARY SOEHNLE AS CIVIL TRAFFIC VIOLATION HEARING OFFICERS FOR THE MARANA MUNICIPAL COURT WHEREAS Section 5-2-3 of the Town Code provides that the Town Magistrate, with the approval of the Town Council, may appoint one or more hearing officers to preside over civil traffic violation cases; and WHEREAS Kimberly Epling was originally appointed as a civil traffic violation hearing officer on December 4, 2018, has been continuously reappointed since that date, and her current term expires September 30, 2023; and WHEREAS Ramona Silence was appointed as a civil traffic violation hearing officer on August 3, 2021, and her term expires September 30, 2023; and WHEREAS Mary Soehnle was appointed as a civil traffic violation hearing officer on October 18, 2022, and her term expires September 30, 2023; and WHEREAS the Town Magistrate wishes to reappoint Kimberly Epling, Ramona Silence, and Mary Soehnle to serve as civil traffic violation hearing officers on as-needed basis; and WHEREAS the Town Council finds that Kimberly Epling, Ramona Silence, and Mary Soehnle possess the requisite skill and character to perform as civil traffic violation hearing officers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Town Council hereby approves the reappointment of Kimberly Epling, Ramona Silence, and Mary Soehnle to serve as civil traffic violation hearing officers on an as- needed basis, with a term effective October 1, 2023, and expiring concurrent with the Town Magistrate's term. SECTION 2. The Town Council further directs that the hearing officers,Kimberly Epling, Ramona Silence, and Mary Soehnle, who are regular employees of the Town, shall receive no additional compensation as hearing officer other than regular pay and benefits as an employee of the Town. - 1 - Marana Resolution No.2023-095 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, this 19th day of September, 2023.
