flooding from; Se~ta Cruz River, causing serious dA~es to properties

WI~, relief is available in the form of Federally subsidized flood'
insurance as authorized by the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968; and
WH~, it is the intent of this Town Council to require the recognition s~
evaluation of flood hazards in all official actions relating to development
in the flood plain areas having special flood hazards;
WrL~tEAS, +.b~s body has the legal authority to adopt flood plain m~-~ement
control meas~res. to reduce ~uture flood. losses pursuant to ARS 45-2341--2346,
NOW, 'THEReORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Town Council hereby:
1. Assures the Federal Insurance ~s~i~stration that it will enact as
necessary, ~ m~int~ in force for those areas having flood hazards,
flood plain -~agement ~ control measures with effective enforcement
consistent with the Criteria set forth in Section 1910 of the National Flood
Insurance Program Regulations; and
2. Vests the T~w,. Clerk with the responsibility, authority, and -'
a..~ Delineate or ~ssist the .~m~istrator, at his requeSt~ ~'idelin-i~
eating the limits of areas hav~g special flood hazs~s on available,local
maps of sufficient scale'to identify the location of building sites.

upon request a record of elevations (in relation to mean sea level) of the
lowest floor (including base~nt) of all new or substantially improved
located in the special flood hazard areas. If the lowest floor is below grade
on one or more sides, the elevation of the floor ~mmediately above met also
