HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 84-009 Management of floodplain activitiesMODEL RESOLUTION NUMBER 1 RESOLUTION NO. 84-09 A RESOLUTION OF THE (~]~XX, TOWN) OF MARANA COUNTY, ARIZONA, RETAINING THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF FLOODPLAIN ACTIVITIES TO REDUCE FUTURE FLOOD LOSSES PURSUANT TO THE NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE ACT OF 1968 AND TITLE 4~ CHAPTER 10, ARTICLE 4 OF THE ARIZONA REVISED STATUTES AND AMENDMENTS THERETO; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, certain areas of the (~f~, Town) of M~r~na ... are subject to periodic flooding from streams and rivers causing serious damages to properties within these areas; WHEREAS, it is the intent of this Council to require the recognition and evaluation of flood hazards in all official act- ions relating to land use in the floodplain areas having special flood hazards; and WHEREAS, relief is available in the form of flood insurance as authorized by the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968; and WHEREAS, this body has the legal authority to adopt and PASSED, the (~X~, Town) 1984. ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the Mayor and Council of County, Arizona, this 11th day of June MAYOR (SEAL) APPROVED A~ TO FORM: ~-.t'"~ity Atto~y REVIEWED BY: City Manager the limits of areas having special flood hazards on available local maps of sufficient scale to identify the location of building sites; (b) provide such information as the Federal Insurance Administrator may request concerning present uses and occupany of the floodplain; (c) cooperate with Federal, State and local agencies and private firms which undertake to study, survey, map and identify floodplain areas, and cooperate with neighboring communities with respect to management of adjoining floodplain areas in order to prevent aggravation of existing hazards; and (d) Submit an annual report to the Federal Insur- ance Administrator on the progress made during the past year within the community in the development and implementation of floodplain management measures. SECTION 3. That the duly appointed Floodplain Adminis- trator, or his authorized representative, is hereby appointed to maintain for public inspection and to furnish upon request a record of elevations (in relation to mean sea level) of the lowest floor (including basement) of all new or substantially improved structures located in the special flood hazard areas.
