HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 85-001 Alternative local expenditure limitationRESOLUTION NO. 85-01 A RESOLUTION PROPOSING AN ALTERNATIVE LOCAL EXPENDITURE LIMITATION WHEREAS, the Arizona State Constitution permits the submission to the voters of a city or town of any alternative local expenditure limitation; and WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Marana after two public hearings has determined that an alternative local expenditure limitation is necessary for the Town of Marana. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, that the following alternative local expenditure limitation be submitted to the voters of the Town of Marana. "Shall the following be adopted by the Town of Marana as an alternative local expenditure limitation: The Mayor and Common Council of the Town of Marana shall annually, by ordinance, adopt an expenditure limitation to govern the Town of Marana budget for the fiscal year immediately following such adoption. The ordinance shall be adopted by June 30 of each year after a public hearing at which the citizens of the Town of Marana may comment on the proposed expenditure limitations. No expenditures may be made in violation of such ordinance, nor may any proposed expenditures be in excess of estimated available revenues, except that the Mayor and the Common Council may, pursuant to Article 9, Section 20 of the Constitution of the State of Arizona, by three-fourths vote, declare an emergency and suspend the expenditure limitation. The suspension of the expenditure limitation shall be in effect for only one fiscal year at a time."
