HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 85-012 Relating to the personal use of vehicles RESOLUTION NO. 85-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, PI~iA COUNTY, ARIZONA RELATING TO THE PERSONAL USE OF VEHICLES. WHEREAS the Town Council is entrusted with the maintenance and responsibility of ensuring that all Town equipment, including but not limited to vehicles, is used only for the benefit of the Town; and WHEREAS the Marana Town Council has deemed it in the best interests of the Town for police officers to take home their vehicles, since police officers are subject to being called to duty 24 hours per day, and that the taking home of police vehicles results in increased protection to the residents of the Town; and WHEREAS it is in the best interests of the Town to require that certain personnel in the Streets Department take home the patch truck and the repair pickup truck, since those personnel are on call for emergency utility repairs, and those vehicles are specially designed and used to carry and store equipment and tools for emergency utility repairs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN OF MARANA, PIMA COUNTY, ARIZONA as follows: 1. That other than as set forth in this Resolution, no Town vehicles may be used for personal purposes or commuting purposes, and shall be used exclusively for Town purposes. 2. That the police officers of the Town of Marana shall be required to commute to and from work in their assigned police vehicles. 3. That the Streets Supervisor shall commute to and from work in the Town repair pickup truck. 4. That the Streets Supervisor shall designate an employee of the Streets Department to commute to and from work in the Town patch truck. 5. Those vehicles which are required by this Resolution to be used by Town employe~s for commuting pur[~oses shall be used only for commuting purposes and other necessary and reasonable Town business.
