A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA
FAVORING THE PRESERVATION OF COTTONWOOD TREES
WHEREAS Cottonwood trees are indigenous to Southwestern
Arizona; and
WHEREAS Cottonwood trees have been found in abundance
throughout the corporate limits of the Town of Marana for
hundreds of years; and
WHEREAS Cottonwood trees have not been
statutory protection by the State Legislature, as
and certain other species of plants; and

WHEREAS it is the concern of the Marsha Town Council
that continued development, expansion and urbanization of the
Town of Marana may result in a dramatic decrease in the number
of and possible extinction of Cottonwood trees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of
the Town of Mararia, Arizona that the Town Council urges all
individuals, entities, current and prospective developers
within the Town limits of the Town of Marana to do everything
within their power to preserve the existence of any and all
Cottonwood trees 3 feet or larger in diameter located within
the Town limits of the Town of Marana;
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Council urges
that no Cottonwood trees 3 feet or larger in diameter be
defaced, marred or otherwise destroyed, injured or removed for
any reason whatsoever.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of
Marana, Arizona this 4th day of August , 1987.
