HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 88-028 Favoring the preservation of certain plants and trees RESOLUTION NO. 88-28 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA FAVORING THE PRESERVATION OF CERTAIN PLANTS AND TREES WHEREAS certain native plants and trees are indigenous to Southwestern Arizona; and WHEREAS certain plants and trees have been found in abundance throughout the corporate limits of the Town of Marana for hundreds of years; and WHEREAS the continued development of the Town of Marana poses a potential threat to these indigenous plants and trees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona that the Town Council urges all individuals, entities, current and prospective developers within the Town limits of the Town of Marana to do everything within the].r power to preserve the existence of the following: 1. Cottonwood trees which are three feet or larger in diameter. 2. All protected plants as more fully enumerated in A.R.S. Section 3-901 (C), as it may be amended from time to time. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that no Cottonwood trees or other protected plants be defaced, marred or otherwise destroyed, injured or removed for any reason whatsoever. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Planning and Zoning Commission of the Town of Marana is hereby directed to insure that all development plans, specific plans and general plans reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission shall conform as nearly as practicable to the intent of this Resolution. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona this 4th day of October, 1988. ATTEST: MAYOR
