A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA,
ARIZONA SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A STATE
REVOLVING FUND TO REPLACE THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY'S
CONSTRUCTION GRANTS PROGRAM FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING
WASTEWATER FACILITIES. --
WHEREAS,

there is a continued need to treat and dispose of
WHEREAS,
Environmental
and
certain communities have benefited from the
Protection Agency's Construction Grants Rrogram;
WHEREAS, the current Federal program is in the process of
being discontinued; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to continue to'develop new and
expand existing wastewater facilities; and
WHEREAS, Title VI of the 1987 amendments to the Clean Water
Act allows for the creation of a State Revolving Fund; and
WHEREAS, the public's health, safety and welfare is c,f
primary concern and
WHEREAS, the acceptance and implementation of a Revolving
Fund is dependent upon legislation ~eing adopted by the State of
Arizona.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Mayor and Town
Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, supports the creation of
a State Revolving Fund and hereby requests the State to create
and implement a program prior to the sunset of the Construction
Grants Program; and
FURTHERMORE requests the support of the Governor of the
State of Arizona, legislators, congressmen, senators, and aii
other interested and concerned in the well-being of the public,
to develop a State Revolving Fund.
