A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF MARANA DECLARING AN
OFFICIAL CANVASS
WHEREAS A.R.S. Section 16-642 requires the Town Council
to canvass an election not less than six days nor more than
fifteen days following an election; and
WHEREAS a primary election was held by the Town of
Marana on March 21, 1989 to fill four positions on the Town
Council and to put before the voters the question of an
alternative expenditure limitation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Council of
the Town of Mararia, Arizona as follows:
1. That the Canvass of Election of March 21, 1989,
attached hereto, is hereby adopted as the official canvass of the
Town of Marana primary election of March 21, 1989.
2. That, pursuant to Marana Town Ordinance 80.05, the
following candidates, who received a majority of all of the votes
cast, are declared to be elected to the office of Councilmember
effective as of the date of the Town's 1989 General Election:
A. Ora Mae Ham.
B. Billy W. Schisler.
C. Gretchen Jo Rex.
D. Douglas M. Mostyn.
3. A certified permanent copy of this Official Canvass
shall be filed with the Marana Town Clerk, and shall be
maintained and preserved as a permanent public record pursuant to
A.R.S. Section 16-646(C).

1. The number of ballots cast: 236
2. The number of ballots rejected: 1
3. The following votes were received
candidate, which candidates were running for the
Councilmember:
A. Eva Natale Bleecker - 90 votes
B. Ora Mae Harn- 162 votes
C. Elizabeth A. "Betty" Horrigan 121 votes
D. Douglas M. Mostyn - 131 votes
E. Gretchen Jo Rex - 142 votes
F. Billy W. Schisler - 161 votes
4. The following question was on the ballot:
"The Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana shall
annually, as part of the annual budget, adopt an
expenditure limitation to govern the Town of
Marana budget for the fiscal year immediately
following such adoption."
There were 176 votes in favor of this question, and 41
opposed to this question.
