A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA,
ARIZONA DESIGNATING A PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTION DATE AND
PURPOSE OF ELECTION; SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS A REFERENDUM ON
WHETHER TO ESTABLISH ZONING ON CERTAIN ANNEXED PROPERTY; DESIG-
NATING THE DEADLINE FOR VOTER REGISTRATION; AND DESIGNATING THE
PLACE AND THE LAST DATE FOR CANDIDATES TO FILE NOMINATION PAPERS
WHEREAS the Town Council did, on July 19, 1988, establish
zoning on annexed property more commonly known as "The Naranja
P~operty" by the passage of Town Ordinance NO. 88.19; and
WHEREAS a referendum petition has been filed with the Town
containing sufficient signatures to refer to a vote of the qual-
lified electors of the Town for their approval or rejection
Marana Town Ordinance No. 88.19.
WHEREAS referendum petition number 88-08 conforms to the
applicable provisions of law; and
WHEREAS it is provided for by law for the holding of a
primary and general election for successors to the Town Council;
and
WHEREAS there will be three vacancies on the Marana Town
Council in 1991.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of
the Town of Marana, Arizona as follows:
Section 1. Designation of Election Dates.
That March 26, 1991 is designated as the date for holding
the primary election of the Town of Marana for the purpose of
nominating candidates for Council members whose names shall
~ppear on the ballot at the general election to be held on May
21, 1991. Any candidates receiving a majority of all of the votes
cast at the primary election will be declared elected without
running at the general election.
Section 2. Referendum.
That at the Town of Marana's primary election on March 26,
1991, Mararia Town Ordinance No. 88.19 shall be referred to a vote
of the qualified electors of the Town of Marana for their approv-
al or rejection. Arguments for and against this referendum must
be filed with the Marana Town Clerk no later than February 22,
1991. Said arguments may not exceed 300 words. At the time of
filing said arguments a deposit must be paid to the Town Clerk in
an amount of money as may be necessary to pay the cost of the
paper required and the proportionate cost of printing the argu-
ment.
Section 3. Designating Deadline for Voter Registration.
Pima County registration and voting lists will be used for
the municipal election. In order to be qualified to vote in the
primary election, voters must be registered by February 4, 1991.
In order to be qualified to vote in the general election, voters
must be registered by April 1, 1991.
Section 4. Designating Date and Place to File Candidate
Nomination Forms.
Candidates seeking municipal office may o6tain nomination
papers and other materials which must be filed by candidates at
Marana Town Hall beginning December 26, 1990. Candidates must
file nomination papers and other nomination forms by 5:00 p.m. on
January 25, 1991 at Marana Town Hall, 13251 N. Lon Adams Rd.,
Marana, Arizona in order for their names to appear on the primary
election ballot.
Section 5. Polling Place and Time.
The polling place shall
