HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 91-025 special election regarding referendum on adoption of ironwood specific planRESOLUTION 91-25 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, DESIGNATING A SPECIAL ELECTION AND PURPOSE OF THE ELECTION; SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS A REFERENDUM ON WHETHER TO ADOPT A SPECIFIC PLAN ENTITLED "IRONWOOD SPECIFIC PLAN"; AND DESIGNATING THE DEADLINE FOR VOTER REGISTRATION. WHEREAS the Town Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona did, on October 1, 1991, adopt Ordinance No. 91.18 entitled "An Ordi- nance of the Town Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona Adopting a Specific Plan Titled "Ironwood Specific Plan" for Waste Manage- ment of Tucson; and WHEREAS referendum petition 91-01 of Town of Marana, provid- ing for Ordinance No. 91.18 to be referred to the qualified vote~s~of-the Town of Marana for"their approval or rejection, was certified as a qualified referendum petition by the Marana Town Clerk on November 18, 1991, and conforms to the applicable provi- sions of law; and WHEREAS it is provided by law for the holding of a special referendum election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona as follows: Section 1. Designation of Special Election Date. That Tuesday, April 7, 1992, is designated as the date for holding the special election of the Town of Marana. Section 2. Referendum That at the Town of Marana's special election on April 7, 1992, Marana Town Ordinance No. 91.18 shall be referred to a vote of the qualified electors of the Town of Marana for their approval or rejection. Arguments for and against this referendu~ must be filed with the Marana Town Clerk no later than March 6, 1992. Said arguments may not exceed 300 words. At the time of filing said arguments a deposit must be paid to the Town Clerk in an amount of money as may be necessary to pay the cost of the paper required and the proportionate cost of printing the argu- ment. Section 3. Designating Deadline for Voter Registration. Pima County registration and voting lists will be used for the special election. In order to be qualified to vote in the special election, voters must be registered by March 9, 1992. Section 4. Polling Place and Time. The polling place shall be at Marana Town Hall, 13251 N. Lon Adams Road, Marana, Arizona. The polls shall be open from 6:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Town Council of the Town of Mara- na, Arizona, this 3rd day of December, 1991.
