A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A POLICY FOR ACCEPTANCE OF A ROAD INTO
THE TOWN OF MARANA MAINTENANCE SYSTEM.
WHEREAS the Town of Marana Development Code, Title 06.03.03
D states in part;
"The Town shall not accept or maintain streets or other public
ways unless said streets have been constructed in accordance with
Town Standards and specifications which has been adopted by the
Town Council."
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that prior to a road becoming
established and included into the Town of Marana maintenance
system two requirements must be met:
1: "Proper dedication to the' Town of Marana of appropriate road-
way right-of-way, the width to be determined by Town policy as it
exists at the time of dedication."
"Property owners adjacent to the road must dedicate, with the
consent of the lenders, the requisite right-of-way at no cost to
the Town of Marana. The dedication documents must meet the legal
and surveying requirements of the Town."
2. Construction to Town of Marana minimum standards.
The Town does not budget for maintenance of a public road until
that road has been opened and constructed in conformance with
Town standards without cost to the Town. All road requests are
evaluated according to road conditions. Current minimum standards
for a local road are a 24 foot wide surfaced strip with 8 foot
shoulders, adequate roadside drainage, and a thickness of base
determined for soil conditions by the Town Engineer.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that roads annexed into the Town of
Marana which were not on the Pima County maintenance system at
the time of annexation shall not be maintained by the Town of
Marana until officially accepted by the Town per the procedure
above."
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that until a dedicated road is ac-
cepted into the maintenance system of the Town, the Town may
place advisory signs at appropriate locations indicating "NOT A
PUBLIC MAINTAINED ROAD" and "DRIVE AT YOUR OWN RISK" and may post
advisory speed limits. Such speed limits to be determined by the
Town Council and based on roadway surface conditions.
