RURAL TRANSZT "LA TORTUGA" SERVZCE TO MARANA, ARIZONA RESZDENTS NHEREAS, Mararia residents using P.P.E.P.'s "La ToYtuga" has steadily grown over the years, and many Mararia residents rely and depend on its continuation whereas, in 1991, 6, 172 passenger trips were provided whereas, 73% of Marana residents are low to moderate income. ~HEREAS, new 22% financial the proposed ADOT Section 18 contract would require a fare recovery from local Maranan's. causing a sever hardship on those that need the service. WHEREAS, the propose capital match requirements in the ADOT contract o~ 50~ will result in a sever reduction in service frequency in the Mararia area. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona as follows: That a new ADOT Section 18 contract for the 1992 Fiscal year be quickly approved for the continuation of PPEP's Rural Transit System "La Tortuga" That said contract reflect the Federal Fare Recovery Ratio of 0 and 20% for capital equipment purchases. That the present quality and quantity of service, via "La Tortuga" continue unchanged in 1992. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Marana of February, 1992. ATTEST: Town Council this 18th day MAYOR
