DISCIPLINE P~OCEDURES FOR PATRONS
The Town of Marana's policies and procedures are designed to
ensure both public and employee safety. Many times, however, rules
are broken and inappropriate behavior develops. For this reason,
these procedures outline disciplinary action to be taken as to
patrons who violate the pool rules and policies.
1. Talk to the patron in a positive manner, explaining that
their behavior is unacceptable. Attempt to discover the reason for
their behavior. Issue a verbal warning.
2. If their behavior does not improve, have the patron sit
on the sidelines and not allow them to participate in activities
for 5 to 10 minutes. This is the "cooling off" period.
LIFEGUARDS: If behavior problems persist, more severe
disciplinary measures will have to be taken. You MUST obtain
permission from the Pool Manager before taking any of the following
progressive discipline steps:
3. If their behavior still does not improve, suspend the
patron from the pool program for an appropriate period of time: for
example, one or two days, or even a week, depending on the type of
misbehavior.
4. If the patron returns and continues to be a problem, they
will be expelled from the summer program. The parents must be
contacted and given an explanation of the situation.
Under no circumstances are you allowed to
physical punishment. Physical contact is to
restraint, such as breaking up a physical fight.
