HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 92-031 setting election date and proposing an alternative expenditure electionRESOLUTION NO. 92-31 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, DESIGNATING THE ELECTION DATE AND PURPOSE OF ELECTION, DESIGNATING THE DEADLINE FOR VOTER REGISTRATION; DESIGNATING THE PLACE AND THE LAST DATE OF CANDIDATES TO FILE NOMINATION PAPERS; AND PROPOSING A CONTINUATION OF THE LOCAL ALTERNATIVE EXPENDITURE LIMITATION BE SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN OF MARANA. BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, as follows: SECTION 1: Designation of the Election Date; Purpose That March 9, 1993, has been set as the time for holding the Primary Election in the Town of Marana for the purpose of nomi- nating candidates for four Councilmembers whose names shall appear on the ballot at the General Election to be held on May 18, 1993. Any candidates receiving a ma3ority of all the votes cast at the Primary Election will be declared elected without running at the General Election. SECTION 2: Designating Deadline For Voter Registration Pima County registration and voting lists will be used for the municipal elections. In order to be qualified to vote in the Primary Election, one must be registered by February 8, 1993. The last day to register for the General Election will be April 19, 1993. SECTION 3: Designating Date ~ Place To File Candidate Nomination Candidates seeking municipal office may obtain nomination papers and other materials which must be filed by candidates at the Town Clerk's office, Town Hall, 13251N. Lon Adams Road, beginning December g, 1992. Candidates must file nomination papers and other nomination forms by 5:00 P.M. on 3anuary 8, 1993, at the Town Clerk's office in order for their names to appear on the Primary Election Ballot. SECTION 4: Proposing Continuation of Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation As authorized by the Arizona Revised Statutes, a proposed continuation of the Local Alternative Expenditure Limitation-Home Rule Option to govern the Town of Marana budget from fiscal year 93-94 to 96-97 will be submitted for voter approval. , A~,~D AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Counoz2 o? %he Town Marana~ Arizolqa. this 3rd Gay of November, 2gg2.
