HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 92-035 extending the alternative expenditure limitationRESOLUTION NO. 92-35 A RESOL~ION OF THE TOWN OF MARANA PROPOSING A~ EXTENSION OF THE ALTERNATIVE LOCAL EXPENDITURE LIMITATION WHEREAS, the Arizona State Constitution permits the submis- sion to the voters of a City or Town of an Alternative Local Expenditure Limitation; and WHEREAS, the voters of the Town of Marana in 1985 adopted Alternative Expenditure Limitation - Home Rule Option; and WHEREAS, the Town Council of Marana after two Public Hear- ings has determined that an Extension of the Alternative Local Expenditure Limitation is necessary for the Town of Marana. NOW, THEREFOP~E, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Marana that the following Alternative Local Expenditure Limitation be submitted to the voters of the Town of Mararia. Shall the following be adopted by the Town of Marana as an Alternative Local Expenditure Limitation. "The Mayor and Common Council of the Town of Marana shall axunual- ly, as part of the annual budget, adopt an Expenditure Limitation to govern the Town of Marana budget for the Fiscal Year immediately following such adoption. The Expenditure Limitation shall be adopted each year after a Public Hearing at which the citizens of the Town of Marana may comment on the proposed Ex- penditure Limitation. No expenditures may be made in violation of such budget, nor may any proposed expenditures be in excess of estimated available revenues, except that the Mayor and the Common Council may, by three-fourths vote, declare an emergency and suspend the Expenditure Limitation. The suspension of the Expenditure Limitation shall be in effect for only one Fiscal year at a time." PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARA- NA, this 17th day of December, 1992.
