A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA
AUTHORIZING THE TOWN TO ENTER AN AGREEMENT v~rlTH THE GOVERNOR'S
OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY PROVIDING FOR FUNDING FOR A MARANA TRAFFIC
ENFORCEMENT AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION SQUAD.
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Town of Marana to add a traffic enforcement and
accident prevention squad consisting of two motorcycles and related equipment for the safety of
the citizens of Marana; and
WHEREAS, federal funding assistance may be available to the Town through the
Governor's Office of Highway Safety's Fiscal Year 1996 Highway Safety Plan for a traffic
enforcement and accident prevention squad and an intergovernmental agreement is necessary for
such funding; and
WHEREAS, the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and the Town of Marana are
public agencies under the provisions of Sections 11-951 et seq. of the Arizona Revised Statutes,
and each is authorized by law to enter into joint powers agreements; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Town of Marana to enter into an
intergovernmental agreement with the Governor's Office of Highway Safety to secure funding
for a traffic enforcement and accident prevention squad.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town of Mararia is authorized to
enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Governor's Office of Highway Safety to
secure funding for a traffic enforcement and accident prevention squad, upon approval of the
actual Agreement by the Town Council, and provided that the request does not require matching
funds from the Town of Mararia.
PASSED AND ADOFrED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona,
