RELATING TO PERSONNEL; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN ADDITIONAL PAID
HOLIDAY ON DECEMBER 24,2007 AS A SPECIAL ONE-TIM[E EMPLOYEE
APPRECIATION EVENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS the Town of Marana is committed to expressing its support and appreciation
of its employees; and
WHEREAS Town of Marana employees are positive and professional and strive to
provide thelbest public service to the Town and its citizens; and
WHEREAS the Council-approved paid holiday of Christmas, December 25, falls on a
Tuesday this year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, THAT:
SECTION 1. Monday, December 24, 2007, is hereby declared a special one-time paid
holiday for employees of the Town of Marana.
SECTION 2. The holiday will be handled pursuant to established Town personnel
policies and procedures, and in the same manner as all other Council-approved paid holidays,
except that paid time off forthis. one-time holiday will not be counted as hours worked for the
purposes of calculating overtime.
SECTION 3. The Town's manager and staff are hereby directed and authorized to
undertake all other and ftuther tasks required or beneficial to carry out the terms, obligations, and
objectives of this resolution.
SECTION 4. Since it is necessary for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of
the Town of Marana that this resolution become immediately effective, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, and this resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
